Kevin Tolley: The Solano County Library and Measure L

From The Reporter

” Measure L is the extension of a ballot measure that has provided the library system with reliable funding for the last 18 years. In 1998 voters originally passed the 1/8-of-a-penny sales tax known as Measure B. As many of you remember, the bubble burst soon after that and library systems around California and the nation had to cut hours and staff and materials. Then in 2011 the housing bubble burst once again, and many library systems were forced to make deep cuts.Solano library weathered those financial storms mostly intact, partly due to good financial management, but also much of the credit goes to the people of Solano County and the Measure B-Measure L funding. When Measure L happened in 2012 you again voted to fund your libraries. This is a blessing.”
