Costa Mesa approves $34.5 million library, community center swap

” The city is set to build a modern central library nearly triple the size of its current one, and plans to open the facility by the end of 2018.The City Council unanimously approved the $34.5 million project on Tuesday.The city plans to demolish its Neighborhood Community Center meeting space in April 2017 and build the new 20,000-square-foot library in its place. In 2018, the city will begin to retrofit the 8,000-square-foot Donald Dungan Library into a new community center, a project that’s expected to be completed by Dec. 2019.”
