Pleasanton: Library’s Open Mic nights provide writers creative outlet

from the Contra Costa Times

“If you think open mic events only happen at edgy clubs in big cities, you haven’t been to the Pleasanton Library recently. Writers, poets and lyricists from around the Tri-Valley are sharing their work with each other and the public at monthly Open Mic nights at the library, where the talent pool ranges from seasoned published writers to untested and nervous newbies. For five minutes each, performers can read or sing their work aloud to an appreciative audience anxious to hear new talent.”
