Butte County: budget to be introduced at Tuesday’s county supervisors meeting

from the Chico Enterprise-Record

“Butte County’s proposed $475.9 million budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year will be introduced during the Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday … expanded hours at the Chico branch of the Butte County Library [likely] to be an issue during the June 23 meeting. Although the city of Chico’s budget hasn’t been approved, it calls for eliminating the city’s $100,000 annual contribution to the library and having library supporters seek a portion of $25,000 in community organization funding. This year, the City Council reduced the contribution to $75,000, but later added $25,000 at the county’s request. The money currently pays for 14 additional weekly hours at the Chico library, including being open Mondays. If the money isn’t available, the library would be open 39 hours per week, similar to branches in Oroville and Paradise.”
