Women form group to keep Kern County libraries public

“After hearing that the Kern County Board of Supervisors were looking into possibly privatizing local libraries, Miranda Lomeli-O’Reilly and Mandy Walters created a plan to keep the libraries public. The women formed Advocates for Library Enhancement…ALE is now proposing a one-eighth of a penny sales tax increase that could raise as much as $15 million a year for public libraries.”
