“On Monday Salinas City Manager Ray Corpuz Jr. formally announced the appointment of Cynthia Bojorquez as the city’s new director of library and community services. During the presentation I asked Corpuz if there was some clue to be had from his appointment of a person who has no direct library administration experience — especially given the recent tumultuous tenure of Elizabeth Martinez, a nationally known ‘celebrity’ librarian who didn’t suffer fools or council members easily.”
